Video game sales have seen a decline this year
The video game sales in August, 2010, if compared with August, 2009 have seen a decline which is mainly the result of lack of interest among customers for Nintendo products and handheld devices. Apart from these two, the market of hardware and accessories has seen a decline too. But, even under such circumstances, Sony and Microsoft have been able to manage some better results when compared to last year’s statistics but XBOX 360 actually defeated PS III by around 100000 units more being sold of the former.
Anita Frazier, the NPD analyst released the exact figures in a press conference. She also mentioned that the sales mark the lowest point since the year 2006. Among the many sectors, portable devices saw the biggest decline with 25% less sales compared to last year. The video game sales dropped by just 6% though.
The future for video gaming market is tough to predict as both Microsoft and PS III are coming up with interesting exclusive games. Wii will also be expecting some better results with games like Wii party and Disney Guilty Party due to launch later this year.
