Southern US Baptist leader believes Yoga contradicts Christianity

Submitted by on October 7, 2010 – 4:53 pmOne Comment | 36 views

Yoga has brought several benefits to human beings from all over the world, be it physically or mentally. Though many have been skeptical about the benefits it has, none could decline its importance either. Now, Albert Mohler, the President of Sothern Baptist Seminary has made a call to avoid doing yoga for the Christians as he believes yoga does not support Christianity due to eastern connection and stretching activities it has.

Mohler recently write an essay answering to the several questions he has been asked for the last few years regarding yoga and his thoughts on the ancient practice. But, his essay did not go down well with the people who are Christians yet believe in yoga. Responses came through mostly e-mails, blog comments and Mohler said he was quite astonished with the feedback that he received.

More than 15 million of Americans are now exercising yoga and the overall feedback has been quite good, so the number is supposed to increase only in the recent years. It will however be interesting to see whether Mohler’s words make any impact on the common people or not.
